DADS, DEFENDERS AT HOME

  Ephesians 5: 21-33

Introduction:      There are three major enemies of the home:

1) Liquor (alcohol): strong drink has robbed more children of food on the table, and has caused more child abuse than any other source.

2) Luxuries (accumulation) the craving of things; prosperity is killing the church; nobody needs God anymore or so they think!

3) Lust (adultery) (Lev 18, adultery is mentioned first, before murder of babies, and homosexuality. Adultery is: a) the bankruptcy of a bonded haven. b) The breaking of a beautiful home. The old saying is: "As goes the home, so goes the church; as goes the church, so goes the nation "Our problem in the home did not start yesterday. Its roots go back to the free love, hippie movement in the l960's. This ungodly movement brought about the ungodly murder law of abortion in the l970's. From that sinful movement, we degraded the home by the homo-sexual movement in the l990's, and further down the tubes we go in to the "Forget God" movement of today. Our nightmare problems in America today can be traced right back to the heresies in our homes.

I.          THE FAMILY ALTAR THAT IS UNUSED

Our nation was built and founded upon the family altar principle. All major decisions that affected the lifestyle of the home were made and decided around the altar in the home. Now the education, morality, and future of your children are being made by atheists in government and in the schools. 10 of the signers of the Declaration of Independence came to know Jesus as children in their homes. Looking further at the family altar, we see \

            A.                 An Altar of Virtue

·         The definition of the word "wed lock" (Made up of two words) (1). Wed - to unite or join closely in matrimony (2). Lock - to fasten, to keep in or out; interlock; to intertwine.

·         The definition of the word "cleave' means "to cling fast; or to form adhesion"

You not only need an altar to get married at, you need an altar to stay married! Virtuous couples always have a victorious marriage.

             B.                 An Altar of Values

·         Morality - it is still a sin to have sex outside of the marriage bond. There are no illegitimate children, only illegitimate parents. It is still a value to enter the marriage bedroom a virgin. It is still a godly value to be honest, polite and respectful of others. It is still a godly value to dress modestly. If a peeping tom were to look in your bedroom window and see you undressed, you would call the police. But you will go out in public undressed and let every one peep at your body.

·         Monogamy - it is still God's plan for there to be one woman and one man for eternity. It is not multiple choice. No room for flairs, affairs, or one night stands.

·         Maintenance - if you do not perform preventive maintenance on your automobile, it will cost you more down the road. The same applies to your marriage. It will also cost you more down the road. If you do not empty the garbage in your house, pretty soon it will be a garbage dump. The same is true of your marriage. The Bible says "husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved he church". It also says, "the husband is the savior of the body".

II.         THE FAMILY STRUCTURE THAT IS UNGUARDED

             A.        Husband as the Head of the Home

·         Priest - spiritual leader, pillar of strength; ultimate decision maker

·         Provider - His number one responsibility is to provide: a. food b. clothing c. shelter d. moral and spiritual atmosphere

·         Protector - the husband and the home is akin to the Shepherd and the sheep. It is his job to keep the wolves out. H e is to keep heaven in and hell out.

B          Wife as the Heart of the Home

·         Pulse - the wife is the heartbeat of the home. She is the one that pumps the blood between the head and the hub.

·         Passion - (she deals in emotion - thinks with her heart - puts feeling and reason to the rules.

·         Perfume - a godly woman is like a sweet perfume in the home. Anyone entering the home of a godly woman will instantly recognize the sweet perfume of the Holy Ghost

C          Children as the Hub of the Home

·         Product to favor (Ps 127:3 "the fruit of the womb is God's reward")

·         Platform to the future (children are the only link between what you came from and where they are going.

III.       THE FAMILY CIRCLE THAT IS UNDETERMINED

By undetermined, I mean that it is yet undecided in most homes, as to how many members will be in the circle that goes to heaven. If you have unsaved children, the circle is going to be broken. Salvation in the scripture is likened to a door. Let's examine the doors involved in the circle being un-broken in heaven:

     A.           The Saving Son

Jesus said; I am the door. Only one door, only one way, only one salvation, only one Savior, one truth, Jesus is the door. To keep the circle from being unbroken, will you open the door and let Jesus come in?

           B          The Sealing Spirit

Jesus is the door to salvation and the Holy Spirit is the door to security. When accept Jesus as the door to salvation, and walk through, then it is the Holy Spirit that closes the door behind you. You are eternally sealed and the circle will not be unbroken.

           C          The Sovereign Father

Stands at the door looking for the prodigal son or prodigal daughter to come home.

Conclusion:       WILL THE CIRCLE BE UNBROKEN
