COMMON MAN OR CHAMPION?
Ezekiel 22:30-31

Introduction:     God is looking for some special men. Not just men who will go to work, but men who will go to war; Not just providers, but Priests; Men that are not just faithful, but men who are fighters. Not just good men, but god men! God is searching for a champion! (v.30)  "sought" = to search desperately / “man" = male person (you can look like a male and not be a man. You can look like a man and not act like a man. You can biologically be a man and not Biblically be a man!) Literally = champion. What is a champion?  A champion is an over comer; he is never taller then when he is on his knees! He has all the power in the universe but it does not come from working out, it comes from looking up! A champion has a little backbone and a little jawbone he’s one who will speak up and never back up, let up, or give up! May God give us some champions who will lead their families to love and serve the Lord! God is searching for a champion because:

I.          SPIRITUAL WEAKNESS (Gen.19:12-14)

            A.        Chose Position Over God’s Power (vv.1-2)

·        Separation didn’t mean anything to Lot ’s family. They didn’t always live in Sodom .

·        Choices Count – Elimelech led his family out of Bethlehem to Moab .

·        Values Shaped – Lot was to be the Spiritual leader in his home. Who shapes your values?

·        You cannot walk with the world and have power with God.

B.         Compromise Was More Important Than Conviction (vv.4-8)

Is anything wrong anymore?

·        Called then wicked men of Sodom “brethren.” (v.7)

·        Compromised and said, “fornication will be alright in this case.” (v.8)

·        Whatever happened to Biblical separation?

C.        Occasional Interest Was More Important Than Eternal Investment (v.14)

·        Inconsistency in the Spirit Life.

·        Makes our life a joke to others.

·        No convictions, no consistency, no consecration, makes commonly weak leaders, not champions!

II.         LACK OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM (Eph.5:23-29)
God’s plan for Common Men Becoming Champions. Champions are:

            A.        To Be Protectors (v.23 – safety & security)

B.                 To Be Pro-Active (v.25 – first to make the move in reconciliation)

C.                 To Be Precise (v.28 – taking proper steps bring peace)

D.                 To Be A Provider (v.29 – nourish (bring to maturity) to help reach full potential in God & cherish (soften with heat) tender love.

Conclusion:       The great need of this hour is that men have a heart for God. For Fathers to be determined to live for God, and seek the power of God, to move from common men to champions!
