ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP
Geneses 4:1-7

Introduction:     Geneses is a book of firsts (examples). Here is the first recorded act of worship. When the writer of Hebrews sought to teach about faith, he reached back for the example of Able (Heb.11:4). Here are some important truths about true worship.

I.          A JOYFUL ANTICIPATION (VV.1-2)

II.         A PROPER APPROACH (VV.3-4)

            A.        A Specific Time

            B.         A Specific Place

Worship is drawing close to the presence of God (not just being a spectator).

            C.        A Specific Way

            D.        A Specific Offering

III.       A WRONG ATTITUDE (VV.5-7)

            A.        The Attitude Of Anger

            B.         The Attitude Of Jealousy

            C.        The Attitude Of Disobedience

Conclusion:       You don’t enjoy a good meal if you’re not hungry. You will not worship God unless you’re hungry for His presence.
