PUT ON YOUR SHOUTIN' SHOES

Luke 10:17-20

Introduction:     We live in difficult days. We live in defeated days. We live in discouraging days. We have lost our shout, because we have lost our sight of our salvation. We need to get back to the basics (when we got saved). I believe this is what Jesus was telling the disciples in the text verse. Our shout doesn't come from: getting our way, getting a feeling, or gaining through our circumstances. We have been sitting on the premises, we now need to stand on the promises, and shout the praises. A real shout comes from:

1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. 2. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound. 3. I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene. 4. At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light. 5. I am saved to the uttermost, I know that I am.

Family membership depends on a family record. Has it been recorded in Immanuel's Book, that you are a member of the family? Here are three great truths that should make every Baptist shout:

I.
YOU HAVE A SALVATION THAT CANNOT BE DESTROYED

Hell is more than a boogie bear. Salvation is more than a "get out of Hell free" card. Salvation also brings gifts to the believer that can be used in the battle for the Lord. They are:

A.        A Godly Relationship (I John 3:1:"beloved, now are we the sons of God")

This Godly relationship consists of:

·        Adoption (Gal 4: 4-5) under Roman law there existed a rule that maintained what was called "The Father's power". This meant absolute authority. It also provided 3 legal steps to adopt:

1.      adopted permanently (once for all time)

2.      automatic and immediate rights to family wealth (no seniority)

3.      all previous debts, rights, and criminal acts were erased

·        Access (unlimited, unhindered, open door policy, no appointment necessary, ask-seek-knock, no answering machines, no middle man, no busy signal. We can now "come before the throne of grace boldly"

B          A Grand Redemption

We have been:

·        Cleansed by Him

We were dirty, filthy, evil, but we have been washed clean and white by the precious blood of the Lamb

·        Changed by Him (II Cor. 5:17)

C         A Glorious Rescue (II Thess. 4: 16-17)

II.         YOU HAVE A SECURITY THAT CANNOT BE DEPLETED

A         Secured By The Scriptures

In our text, the words "are written" are the "perfect, passive, indicative mode. So it is very correct to say "is written, shall be written, stands written". This covers every aspect, avenue, and argument. This is very similar to a hope chest with records, love letters, tokens and gifts.

B.
Sealed By The Spirit (Eph 4:30 "sealed unto the day of Redemption")

Notice that this verse says "unto" and not "until". We are like a jar of preserves that my grandmother used to prepare. They were sealed with heat and therefore waiting for the day when the lid would be popped open. The contents were just as good as the day they were
sealed!!!!!!

III.
YOU HAVE A SATISFACTION THAT CANNOT BE DENIED

A.        Your Name Is In The Right Book

Notice that the word "written" means "enrolled as a citizen"

B.         Your Name Will Be In The Roll Call

The country we are headed for consists of many things new. But here are just a few:

·        The Land of "no mores"

·        The Land of "mores"

·        The Land of "evermores"

Conclusion:
