THE HORRORS OF HELL
Luke 16:19-26

Introduction:     Jesus preached on love, fellowship, and service, but He also preached this blistering message on HELL. There are three warnings in this text.                             

I.           SURE ABOUT ITS DOCTRINE (V.23)

What kind of place is hell? Hell is a Prepared Place . It is populated with People. It is a place of Pain and suffering. Much of what we know about hell we learn from the lips of the lovely Lord Jesus. Of the 162 references to hell and judgment in the N. T., 70 were spoken by Jesus. Why? He doesn’t want you to go there! Under that:

            A.        Life is Short. (vv.19-21)

            B.         Death is Certain. (v.22)

Notice the contrast: One was buried and the other was carried. Believer or unbeliever understand that your soul will not spend one second in the grave (expound).

II.         SHOCKED BY ITS DESCRIPTION (VV.23-25) 

A.        Hell is a Conscious Place . (vv.23-25)

·        Because of what you can Realize (vv.23-24) “Being”

·        Because of what you can Recall (v.25) "Remember"

            B.         Hell is a Continuous Place (v.26)

·        A place of Everlasting torment

·        A place of Eternal separation

III.       SHARING THAT THERE IS DELIVERANCE FROM HELL (VV.27-28)

            A.        A Message Of Concern (v.27)

            B.         A Message Of Compassion (v.28)

Conclusion:       A recent ABC New poll revealed that 70% of Americans surveyed believed in a place called Heaven. However, only 56% believed in a place called Hell. People don’t like to think of the Horror and reality of Hell. But, refusing to believe it doesn’t change the fact that there is a place of eternal, horrorable punishment for all unbelievers called Hell. The good news today is that no person in this room has to go to Hell! Jesus Christ made the way for all that will believe on Him and receive Him as Savior and Lord to get off the highway to hell and on the highway to Heaven.
