BACK TO THE BASICS OF UNITY
  Philippians 2:1-4

(Psa. 133:1) "…Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!"

Introduction:   For the Church to influence pagan society there must be unity. For the Church to move forward in ministry (within & without) there must be unity. Consolation: To relieve of misery. Comfort: (II Cor. 1:3-4) Fellowship: Congregation. (II Cor. 13:14) Mercies: Compassion. Pity. Sympathy. Note: Strife (vs. 3) Selfishness (vs. 4). One accord means to have agreement, harmony; a meeting of wills or opinion, to adjust one thing to another (Mat 18:19)  "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." The heathen get in accord the heavenly need to be in accord too. What can you find wrong with your church that is not wrong with you? Unity in God’s Church is laid out for us in the Book of Acts.

I.          ONE ACCORD IN PRAYER (ACTS 1:14) VISIBLE

A.        “All” Continued In Agreed Purpose

·         Act of obedience. (Acts 1:4)

·         Acted in order. (Acts 1:14; 2:1)

B.        “All” Committed To Agreed Program

·         Gospel preaching added to the church (2:41-42; 46-47)

·         God’s power addressed by the church (4:29; 31)

Prayer has a way of bringing people in accord that were previously in disaccord.

II.        ONE ACCORD IN PREACHING (ACTS 2) VISION

A.        Agreed To Uniformly Proclaim The Word (2:14; 37)

·         Salvation of sinners.

·         Edification of Saints.

B.        Agreed To Uniformly Support The Work (2:41-46)

·         Through fellowship.

·         Through finances.

·         Through fundamentalism.

·         Through fruitfulness.

III.       ONE ACCORD IN PROCLAMATION (ACTS 2:42-47) VITAL

A.        Growing (2:42)

B.        Glowing (2:46-47a)

            C.        Going (2:47b)

Conclusion:     Back to the basics – Praying, Preaching, & Proclamation Acts 1:8.
