SIN’S SOLUTION
Romans 3:21-31

Introduction:     “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” What is man to do? Thank God He provided a solution for sin.

I.          THE WAY OF SALVATION (VV.21-23)

            A.        God’s Greatest Gift (v.21)

Righteousness” = the state of being right. This is not just doing right; it is being right! If I am right I’ll do right! God’s gift is this…salvation (being right with God) apart from works (the law).

            B.         World’s Greatest Opportunity (v.22)

This gift is available to all who believe. (Illus: things people do to win the lottery, game shows, etc.) This offer is to all; salvation through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Why go to hell when you can go to heaven?

            C.        Man’s Greatest Need (v.23)

II.         THE WORTH OF SALVATION (VV.24-25)

A.                 Our Position (v.24a)

Justified” = is the judicial act of God whereby those who place there faith in the Lord Jesus are declared righteous. That is my position!

B.                 Our Purchase (v.24b)

Redemption” = to buy by paying the price. Sinners are bought back off the auction block of sin by the shed blood of Jesus!

C.                 His Pain (v.25)

Propitiation” = the turning away of the wrath of God by an offering; the meeting of the demands of God’s holy law’s. Jesus’ offering meets the righteous demands of God’s Law. (Expound the Mercy Seat).

III.       THE WORK OF SALVATION (VV.26-31)
God’s doing all the work – “of God”

A.                 Declaring Righteousness (v.26)

He is just and justifier.

B.                 Demolishing Pride (v.27)

No one goes to heaven on the merits of their humanity, but only on the basis of the mercy of God!

C.                 Dignifying Existence (vv.28-31)

I have a right standing before God; I have self-worth; I have a reason for living and a purpose, because I stand accepted in the beloved through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Conclusion:       Some of you here will never get saved until you stop trying (Illus: drowning boy…I couldn’t save him until he stopped trying to save himself).
